The band has played at many memorable events throughout the years. One of the most fascinating was the Bicentennial of General Lafayette in 2024. We were honored to play for this historical event, which celebrated the Farewell Tour of America’s “famous fighting Frenchman” as a “Guest of the Nation” 200 years ago. The event is traveling to 24 states in the same order as Lafayette did on his tour.
After we performed at the Masonic Temple in East Providence, I started following the stories and events of the tour on social media and recently returned from another stop in New Orleans. I visited places Lafayette did 200 years ago, attending events including the premiere of a Lafayette exhibit at the Louisiana State Museum, a historical reenactment at Chalmette Battlefield, and a cruise on the Mississippi River on the Steamboat Natchez, a replica of the ship that transported the General from Mobile to St. Louis. This is just a sampling of the events. Read more about the New Orleans stop here, and see below for some photos from New Orleans.           DB
